On a daily basis, keep this thought in mind: Every person you or
your employees meet is a potential client! Therefore, having blank
business cards on hand is a must for every company. At work, when a
new employee is hired, using software programs such as Microsoft
Word, WordPerfect or Microsoft Publisher, you can simply insert the
company's logo on these business cards and personalize them. That
way the employee has a serviceable business card until new cards are
ordered from a printing company.
Business cards are your single most important marketing tool.
Spending that extra buck to have them look highly professional is
well worth the expense. You can also create different business cards
emphasizing specific services for your business. For instance, if
you are a designer, to make your business cards stand out, have them
printed on colored or glossy paper instead of the standard white
stock. You may also want your business cards printed on extra-thick
or laminated stock, so they are heavier and durable than most. If
you have a good laser or inkjet printer, you can make your own
business cards. Your local office supply store will have sheets of
blank business cards. Using a word processing program, you can help

Blank business cards work both ways. For example, you meet a great
new prospect at a networking function. You ask for his/her business
card, but they ran out of cards, or forget them, or are having new
cards printed up. You could give them your card and hope they follow
up with their contact information, but that puts the burden on them.
Carl Icahn once said, "In life and business, there are two cardinal
sins. The first is to act precipitously without thought and the
second is to not act at all." The answer to this dilemma is to carry
blank business cards. You can procure a sheet of blank business
cards and break them apart without printing on them or you can print
blank forms with lines for name, phone, address, e-mail, printed on
the card.
